Synapptic Tablet Demonstration
Synapptic Tablet Demonstration: Accessible Technology for People with Sight Loss
Technology has the power to transform everyday life, and for people living with sight loss, the right accessibility tools can make using a tablet simpler, more independent and more enjoyable.
In this short demonstration, we showcase Synapptic running on a tablet. Designed specifically for people who are blind or partially sighted, Synapptic provides a clear, high-contrast interface with large coloured icons, speech feedback and simplified navigation.
Watch the demonstration to see how the software works in practice.
What is Synapptic?
Synapptic is an accessibility software package that makes smartphones and tablets easier to use. Rather than navigating complex menus, users interact with a straightforward interface featuring large, high-contrast tiles and spoken guidance.
Features include:
- Phone calls and messaging
- Magnifier
- OCR and text reading
- Navigation
- Entertainment and media
- Internet access
- Daily living tools
What does this demonstration show?
The video shows service user and volunteer, Kay, navigating the Synapptic interface on a tablet.
You’ll see how she explores the screen by moving a finger across the available options. As each feature is highlighted, the device provides spoken feedback. When the desired option is found, simply lifting the finger from the screen selects and opens that feature.
This touch-and-release method allows users to confidently explore the interface without accidentally opening the wrong application.
