A Partnership Creating Lasting Opportunities

A Partnership Creating Lasting Opportunities
For more than 20 years, the Eric Wright Charitable Trust has helped Galloways create opportunities for blind and partially sighted people. Its support continues to open new possibilities.
Through the Trust’s longstanding partnership, people with visual impairments have enjoyed access to the Water Park facility at Lake Coniston for two decades.
This important milestone was celebrated in August 2026. Eric and Alison Wright joined us for a special event and were presented with a commemorative plaque in recognition of their remarkable support. They also brought a celebration cake to share with everyone.
Supporting our Digital Hub
The Trust has also funded Galloways’ online Digital Hub for the past three years.
This accessible resource has enabled people affected by sight loss to find trusted information and learn new skills. It also helps people connect with support wherever they live.
You can access the Digital Hub with its newly designed interface at galloways.org.uk/digital-hub.
Lasting Opportunities
Now, the partnership is entering an exciting new chapter.
The Eric Wright Charitable Trust has awarded Galloways three years of funding for a dedicated member of staff. This will help us establish our first formal service for children and young people.
This investment will help us create support shaped around the specific needs of younger people with visual impairments.
It will give them opportunities to build confidence, develop independence and learn new skills. They will also have opportunities to form friendships with others who understand their experiences.
The funding will allow us to work more closely with families too, helping them access advice when they need it most.
Making a Lasting Difference
The Trust has helped make leisure activities more accessible, strengthen our digital support and invest in the next generation. Its contribution has made a lasting difference.
We are incredibly grateful to the Eric Wright Charitable Trust for believing in our work. Its support is helping us build a future in which people with sight loss can thrive.
