Social Value – What Is It and How Do We Do It?

Social Value – What Is It and How Do We Do It?

Social value is about more than charitable giving. It is about how organisations use their people, skills and influence to make a positive difference. At the same time, they create value for their employees, customers and communities.

At Galloways, our business partnerships help create social value in many ways. From inclusive workplaces to community support, businesses can make a meaningful and lasting impact.

People – Inclusive workplaces

Our Visual Awareness Training gives employees the skills and confidence to support visually impaired colleagues, customers and visitors.

In 2024/25, 280 people completed visual awareness training with Galloways.

This training helps businesses create more inclusive workplaces and improve accessibility for people with sight loss.

Expertise – Skills and accessibility

Businesses can share their expertise through volunteering and skills-sharing. They can also benefit from Galloways’ own knowledge of sight loss and accessibility.

Our transcription services help organisations make information accessible. We provide alternative formats, including Braille, large print and audio.

Together, these opportunities help businesses improve accessibility and share valuable skills.

Community – Local impact

Galloways supports the community by helping people live independently, build confidence and stay connected.

We also encourage people to stay active and participate in their communities. These opportunities help improve wellbeing and quality of life.

Through business partnerships, organisations can contribute to this positive social value in their local communities.

Network – Shared connections

Our 1867 Corporate Club and developing business networks bring organisations together.

These connections create opportunities to exchange knowledge, build relationships and learn from others.

By working together, businesses can strengthen their networks while supporting Galloways’ work.

Legacy – Lasting impact

Partnerships can create benefits that continue long into the future.

By supporting our mission, businesses can help more people affected by sight loss access information, skills and support.

Together, these opportunities show how business and charity partnerships can combine people, expertise and connections to create meaningful and lasting social value.
