Gift in Your Will

Leave a gift in your Will to Galloways

Leaving a gift in your Will is a powerful way to help people affected by sight loss live with confidence, independence and connection – long into the future.

After looking after your loved ones, even a small gift can help ensure Galloways is here for generations to come.

Why gifts in Wills matter

Gifts in Wills are one of the most important ways Galloways can continue our work.

They help us:

  • Reach people newly diagnosed with sight loss

  • Reduce loneliness and isolation

  • Provide practical advice, technology support and low vision services

  • Plan confidently for the future

Many of the services we provide today are only possible because someone, years ago, chose to remember Galloways in their Will.

How leaving a gift works

Leaving a gift in your Will is simpler than many people think.

You can choose to leave:

  • A share of your estate (a residuary gift)

  • A fixed sum of money

  • A specific item

There is no obligation, and your Will can always be updated if your circumstances change.

Just return to your will dashboard, amend your wishes and click submit. Your will is then reviewed by their expert team to check it’s legally sound before being sent to you to resign, along with witnesses.

Octopus Legacy’s subscription service also includes access to their will verification and storage services. Your will is a chance to protect your wishes and have a say in what happens when you’re gone. It’s legally binding when it’s witnessed and signed correctly. If it isn’t signed correctly, it can be the same as having no will at all. 1 in 5 of the wills Octopus Legacy reviews aren’t signed correctly, they’ll help ensure yours is and that it’s stored securely, protected from fire and water damage.

Why is the will free?
We’ve partnered with Octopus Legacy to make it even easier to get your will sorted and for you to support the causes you care about. Giving a gift in your will can have a huge impact for charities like us, helping us to make a real difference. But writing your will can sometimes feel overwhelming and difficult so we wanted to make the process clear and simple for our supporters. We’ve therefore paid for the wills to be written at a reduced cost. While many people choose to include a gift in their will there is no obligation to do so if you wish to use this service.

What’s the difference between online wills and DIY wills?
DIY Will Kits can be found at your local Post Office or stationery shop. They offer a simple guide to writing a will from scratch and are technically legally binding when signed with a witness. However, DIY Will Kits won’t work for everyone. You can learn more about Post Will Kits, their pros and cons, and the other options available here. This will help you work out what will work best for you. Online will-writing services allow you to take the stress out of the process with easy-to-use tools and on-hand support. But their main benefit is that you can feel confident that your wishes will be followed- thanks to the fact each will is reviewed by a will expert to make sure it’s ship-shape before you sign it. This reduces the risk of your will being rendered invalid.
