Sky Q offers Voice Guidance, a screen reader feature designed to assist users with visual impairments.

It reads out menu options and on-screen text, allowing users to navigate their Sky Q box without relying solely on visual cues.

You can activate Voice Guidance through voice commands with the Sky Q voice remote or by adjusting accessibility settings in the menu.

Here’s how Voice Guidance works and how to use it:

Activating Voice Guidance:
  • Voice Control:
If you have a Sky Q voice remote, you can say “Voice Guidance on” to activate the feature and “Voice Guidance off” to deactivate it, according to Sky.

  • Accessibility Settings:
Alternatively, you can navigate to the Accessibility settings within the Sky Q menu and turn on Voice Guidance there.

How Voice Guidance Assists Navigation:
  • Spoken Menu Descriptions:
Voice Guidance reads out the text on the Sky Q menus as you navigate through them with your remote.

  • Item Selection:
It will also announce the currently selected item, so you know which option you’re about to choose.

  • Guidance to Content:
It can guide you to your favourite shows and movies by reading out the options on the screen.

Additional Accessibility Features:
  • Audio Description:
Sky Q also offers audio descriptions, which provide spoken commentary to describe the action in a program.

  • High Contrast Settings:
You can adjust the picture settings to increase contrast and make the display easier to see.

  • Accessibility Remote:
Sky offers a dedicated accessibility remote with features designed to be more user-friendly for those with visual impairments.
