Coventry Comets Visit Galloways Gladiators

Howick House, Preston – Saturday 10th May 2025

On Saturday 10th May 2025, the Galloways Gladiators welcomed the Coventry Comets to Howick House.

Both clubs seized an opportunity to strengthen community bonds through Showdown, an inclusive sport open to players of all abilities. In the bright, open activity hall, coaches arranged tables for head-to-head matches and prepared to share techniques. We balanced friendly competition with targeted skill drills so everyone—from newcomers to seasoned players—could learn, compete and enjoy the day together. The hall buzzed with energy as participants connected, laughed and encouraged one another.

A Day of Friendly Competition

Players from both teams faced off in a series of one-on-one matches, creating countless moments of shared learning and connection. Steve from the Coventry Comets moved around the tables, offering real-time feedback and practical tips that helped our Gladiators sharpen their gameplay and tactics.

A Big Thank You to Our Volunteers

After the morning matches, Seth and Pete set up a generous spread of sandwiches, snacks and drinks for lunch. Their hard work and generosity fuelled the group and gave everyone a chance to mingle, compare strategies and swap stories.

One-to-One Coaching Builds Confidence

In the afternoon, Steve, Matt, Claire and Rahul ran individual coaching sessions. They worked directly with each Gladiator, refining techniques, boosting confidence and tailoring advice to each player’s needs. Those focused sessions paid off as participants put fresh skills into practice.

Mixed-Team Finale

To close the day, we formed mixed teams of Gladiators and Comets players for a final match. Teammates brought their newly acquired skills straight into the game, and the result sparkled with teamwork, sportsmanship and fun.
