Ellie at Galloways: A Showdown Visit

Ellie’s Galloways Showdown Visit
At Galloways, showdown isn’t just a game—it’s something you feel.
The rattle of the ball. The crack of the bat. Split-second reactions guided by sound alone. Built on hearing, touch, and instinct, Ellie Galloways showdown experience shows how this unique sport brings people together in a powerful and inclusive way.
We recently welcomed Ellie, a visually impaired actor and the UK’s number one ranked female showdown player, and sat down with her to hear how she rose to compete internationally in just under two years.

During her visit to Galloways, Ellie shared her journey into showdown and how inclusive sport has changed her life.
Ellie has been almost completely blind since birth and found sport difficult to access growing up. Discovering showdown gave her a new sense of confidence and independence.
“It’s increased my confidence, my fitness, and it’s one of the best things that’s ever happened to me.”
In less than two years, Ellie has progressed to competing internationally. The Ellie Galloways showdown journey highlights how important community support is in sport:
“Without experienced players, newer players are going to feel lost… it really helps build confidence.”
Her visit highlights the real impact of Galloways. By offering accessible and inclusive sports like showdown, Galloways gives people with visual impairment the opportunity to stay active, build confidence, and feel part of a supportive community.
For many, it’s not just about sport—it’s about connection, independence, and believing in what’s possible.
