Age-related macular degeneration is the premature or early aging of the macula.

The macula is inside the eye, at the back of the eye, of the retina that we use to see small details, discriminate faces, for example, and in some patients, it ages at an earlier time.

There are basically two types of age-related macular degeneration, dry and wet macular degeneration.
