Volunteer Tandem Cycling Pilot

Help someone experience the freedom of cycling.

Galloways is looking for new volunteer Tandem Pilots to join our Community Tandem Cycling Club and support visually impaired people to enjoy cycling.

Thanks to the support of Cycling UK, Galloways is now a Community Cycle Club. Their funding has helped us service our tandem bikes, provide essential cycling equipment and train volunteers to help us deliver safe and accessible cycling opportunities.

As a volunteer Pilot, you’ll ride at the front of a tandem, supporting a visually impaired back rider and helping them enjoy the freedom of getting out and about on a bike.

You don’t need previous tandem cycling experience. If you’re a confident cyclist and interested in volunteering, our upcoming Tandem Taster Session is the perfect opportunity to give it a try, learn how the club works and find out more about becoming a Pilot.

Tandem Taster Session
Sunday 27 September
10:30am–12:30pm
Galloways, Howick House, Howick Park Avenue, Penwortham, PR1 0LS

Once you’ve completed a taster session, you can get involved in our organised rides. Upcoming rides are:

  • Sunday 20 September – 10:30am–12:30pm
  • Sunday 4 October – 10:30am–12:30pm
  • Sunday 18 October – 10:30am–12:30pm

If you have already attended a taster session, you don’t need to attend another and can book onto an upcoming ride.

The Tandem Cycling Club is for people aged 18 and over.
