Galloways Get Me Out of Here: A New Twist on a Classic Show
You all know the show I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!? Well, Galloways has truly recreated it—with a twist! Galloways Get Me Out of Here was first hosted in 2023, and with the event being such a success, it will now be held annually. As a sight loss charity, who would have thought we’d be able to offer an event with such tension, fun, and most importantly, horror? Well, we did, of course!
Galloways Get Me Out Of Here 2024: A Recap
As the 2024 event has just passed, I’m here to tell you why you should come and take part in our spectacular events.
Watch a thrilling video recap of the day here:
The Campmates: Entering the Unknown
We recruited a total of seven campmates in the summer of 2024, who had no idea what this event would entail for them. In the months leading up to the event, they were given minimal instructions to raise as much money as possible through donations, using the power of social media and network connections. They were also asked to share their biggest phobias (no secrets around here)! From this, we were able to ensure they faced their fears and put them under pressure to win as many stars as possible, all while competing for the title of king or queen of the basement!
The Basement: Galloways’ Darkest Secret
“The basement?” you ask… At Galloways HQ, there is the deepest, darkest basement, full of creepy crawlies, smothered in cobwebs, and haunted by ghosts from the past. You might think we are insane, but I can assure you it’s perfect for our campmates, and this is where we entrap them until they complete our bushtucker trials.
The Dreaded Arrival: The Campmates Face Their Fears
The dreaded day arrived, and our campmates jumped with joy from the Galloways van, with Ant and Dec (or the best version we could muster!) secretly knowing their smiles would soon fade. They headed down to the basement of doom, where they were greeted by our rangers and told to put on their blindfolds. We sensed tension, we sensed fear, and as the first trial approached, no one knew what was near!
Trial One: Engaging the Senses
The first “bushtucker trial” ensnared their senses: touching, tasting, smelling, and hearing the verbal reactions of horror from other campmates… but all without their sight, creating apprehension in the room! That’s something you’ll only find out by becoming a campmate.
Trial Two: Insects Galore
The second trial was a real challenge for some, as we had a variety of interesting insects pay a visit. From snakes to cockroaches and scorpions, the campmates had the chance to hold whatever they felt would be their biggest challenge.

Trial Three: The Escape Room Challenge
Heading back underground, the escape room awaited! The third trial meant the team had to work together to find clues to answer a question so they could be released. This wasn’t as easy as it seemed because the room had low-level lighting, dripping pipes, and a boiler akin to the one in the Home Alone basement, creating an unnerving atmosphere.

Trial Four: A Smelly Challenge
While their nerves were still on edge, Ant, Dec, and the rangers gathered them outside and led them to a room filled with the outrageous smell of fermented herring. They had the task of eating a single piece. Some failed the mission and only managed a lick, potentially losing out on a star.
The Final Trial: Facing Heights in Virtual Reality
As the last trial approached, a sigh of relief quickly turned into ultimate panic as they stepped into a room holding a terrifyingly realistic VR game, testing anyone with a fear of heights!
The Grand Finale: Crowning the Winner
The day finally came to an end, and while Ant and Dec, the rangers, and the entire team at Galloways were disappointed, the campmates were certainly ready to finish! After a bit of food and hot drinks as a reward for supporting us, it was finally time to count all the well-earned stars and reveal the winner of Galloways Get Me Out of Here 2024! The king of the basement was gifted his reward, certificate, and most importantly crowned the winner! This marked our second king—let’s see if a queen will steal the throne in 2025…
We can’t offer a big enough thanks to the camp mates for being such amazing sports, and tackling head on everything that we threw at (and over!) them. Well done to Helen Kimber, Stuart Lee, Maia Worthington, Jemma Lloyd, Ben Hardwick, Ildiko Moran and Adele Bryant for taking time out of your busy schedules to spend a terrifying day with us, and to raise money as well!
