It is a daily struggle for Galloway's to raise the £850,000 a year which is needed to meet the cost of our various services. However, although large, this sum only just pays for our day to day ongoing work.
This means that for new projects and the replacement of major items, we have to rely on the generosity of people who remember Galloway's in their Will.
People like Mrs Ruth Swan, whose £2,000 gift funded the cost of our digital copying machine for our talking newspaper and magazine service. This wonderful gift enabled us to produce more recordings of better sound quality, in less time, benefitting around 3000 people each week.
In 1995 Mrs Walker of Penwortham, left Galloway's over £130,000 which helped us to provide supported living accommodation for six visually impaired people within the grounds of Howick House. Her kindness and our appreciation of her generosity will go on far into the future.
Galloway's would not be here without people leaving us bequests, our whole existence at Howick House is due to the will of William Wilding Galloway whose £10,000 gift in the 1930s purchased Howick House, a building whilst now being the centre of services to blind people across Lancashire, is valued at over £800,000.
