Salterforth to Greenberfield - Walk Guide - Section 06

The railway into Barnoldswick opened in 1871. It was built by the Midland Railway, linking the town with the Skipton to Colne line at Earby. Trains operated between Barnoldswick and Skipton. The line closed in 1965.

Nearby is the new road from Kelbrook to Barnoldswick. It and the new canal bridge, no 151A, were built in the late 1920s as a work-generation scheme for the unemployed. It improved road access to Barnoldswick from East Lancashire, the earlier and much narrower ‘main’ road running from Foulridge along the higher ground above the canal.

Your next stop is Salterforth, or Cockshott Bridge, no 152, for those walking towards Greenberfield.
